The End of a Century Old Myth

For over a hundred years, it was thought that once brain cells (neurons) were damaged by injury or disease, they couldn't be fixed or replaced. This belief left millions of people with brain injuries feeling like there was no real hope for getting better.

A New Dawn for Brain Repair

But in the last ten years, something incredible has happened. Scientists have proven that this old idea simply isn't true! They've actually been able to grow new brain cells in the lab. Even more exciting, they can now take a person's own cells and transform them into tiny, organized structures called "organoids." These organoids hold the incredible promise of being able to treat, modify, or even cure debilitating injuries and diseases that affect the brain, like Alzheimer's or Parkinson's.
